Roller Shutter Doors – Domestic & Industrial
Roller Shutter Doors for Homes, Shops and Industrial Premises
Uno Systems has manufactured, installed and serviced roller shutter doors since December 1998. You will find our doors in many malls, shops, warehouses and homes, and we work from branches in Polokwane (Limpopo) and eMalahleni (Mpumalanga).
Every roller shutter door is custom manufactured to your requirements and site specifications. Doors come in galvanised steel, or can be powder coated in a wide range of standard and special colours to match your building.
Types of Roller Shutter Doors
- Solid roller shutters are made from galvanised interlocking steel slats, giving a clean look and high security.
- Punched steel roller shutters have small cut-outs that let in light, air and visibility. They are ideal for shop fronts, window displays and storage areas that need ventilation. Choose Stella (45 mm or 75 mm slats with small round holes) or Finestra (75 mm slats with 175 x 35 mm vents).
- Fire rated roller shutters are SABS approved, SANS Class C, 2-hour rated industrial doors that help stop fire spreading between buildings for at least 2 hours.
- Contemporary roller shutters use aluminium interlocking slats. They combine high security with a neat look for homes, windows and countertops.
- Roller shutter grilles are available in prime painted mild steel or enamel-painted finishes.
Manual or Motorised Operation
Roller shutters can be operated by hand with a chain or crank, or with an electric motor. We supply ARC industrial roller shutter motors in 220V, 380V and 24V DC options to suit the size of the door and the power available on site.
Wicket Gates, Parts and Spares
A wicket gate can be fitted to most roller shutter doors so people can walk through without opening the whole door, or escape in an emergency. We also stock roller shutter parts and spares, including slats, guides, T-bars, shafts, canopies, castings, locks, slide bolts and industrial springs.
Roller Shutter Service and Maintenance
Regular maintenance saves money and helps your roller shutter last longer. According to various quality standards, roller shutters should be serviced at least once every 6 months, and doors that are used often may need more frequent servicing. Servicing must meet the relevant SANS standards, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the manufacturer’s requirements.
We offer service and maintenance contracts as well as on-call repairs. Read more on our services page or request a quote.
Roller Shutter Door FAQs
What types of roller shutter doors does Uno Systems make?
We make solid, punched, fire rated and contemporary roller shutter doors, as well as roller shutter grilles. Solid and punched shutters use galvanised steel slats, contemporary shutters use aluminium slats, and fire rated shutters are 2-hour rated industrial doors.
Are roller shutter doors made to size?
Yes. All our roller shutter doors are custom manufactured according to your requirements and the specifications of your site. Fire rated shutters are made within their certified size specification.
What colours are available for roller shutters?
Roller shutters are available in galvanised steel, or they can be powder coated in a wide range of standard and special colours to match your building or home.
How often should a roller shutter be serviced?
According to various quality standards, roller shutters should be serviced at least once every 6 months. Doors that are opened and closed often wear faster and may need more frequent servicing. In some cases regular servicing is also an insurance or legal requirement.
How does a fire rated roller shutter close during a fire?
There are two options. A fusible link shutter stays open and closes automatically when the fusible link detonates at 100°C. An electrically operated shutter can be connected to the building’s fire detection panel so it closes when a fire is detected, with the fusible link as a backup.
Can a roller shutter door be motorised?
Yes. We supply ARC industrial roller shutter motors in 220V, 380V and 24V DC options. Manual chain or crank operation is also available.
Can I add a pedestrian door to a roller shutter?
Yes. A wicket gate can be fitted to most roller shutter doors for staff access or emergency escape. The standard size is 635 mm wide by 1830 mm high, and it can open inward or outward depending on the site.
